Thanks to all for making Foxfield such a great garden this year already!

Posted by Tom Gardner on May 12, 2012 at 23:50 0 Comments

Foxfield is going from strength to strength, and has been a hive of activity this year so far. This spring all the beds are under cultivation already, with more takers than ever, and some new folk have got involved. Colin, Lindsay, Mal and Nigel have been great in clearing the weeds from around the raised beds, creating flower borders and other things, and Andy in particular has been fantastic in clearing the back corner with days and nights of stick burning and bush clearing. He has also…

Hi Folks, There's a new course for 'Grow your Own' starting again on the 7th April, Saturday at 'SOL' site,

Dickson street, Leith. Classes start at 11am and go through to 1pm. It's just round the corner from Foxfield, so feel free to come along. The course runs for 6 weeks and is £36 for the course- although, if anyone has already been on one of the courses via ECBA, then you can drop into sessions on an ad-hoc basis and just pay- as-you-go.

We cover all the basics…

thursday,8th september, 'Harvest' workshop'

Posted by joanna darnley on September 8, 2011 at 10:24 0 Comments

Hi Folks,  No interested respondees for tonight's Harvest workshop which needs 5 confirmed people to be viable so workshop will be re-scheduled. I'm re-thinking the advertising of the workshops so that I can reach many more participants. I'll get back to everyone with  more dates of workshops and where they'll be advertised. I'll also host and be self-employed at the sites so that no-one from Foxfield  or any site needs to be present and doesn't have to feel responsible for attending at any… Continue

Backgreen Meeting, Thursday 7th July

Posted by Jill Richardson on July 13, 2011 at 18:30 0 Comments

Hi Folks. A big thank you to all of you who came out into Foxfield and made Friday’s meeting a success. Following a brief discussion of ECBA and its various aspects, a quick talk about Foxfield, a brief discussion of the AGM - with a few welcome interjections from Greg Robertson regarding the future website set up, the tool depot on Dalmeny Street and some background on the forest garden amongst other things, we were able to get down to business and do some real forward planning for our…

The Big Hedge blitz

Posted by Tom Gardner on July 11, 2011 at 23:52 0 Comments

Thanks again to everyone from our backgreen who helped out on Sunday afternoon to take down most of our monster laurel hedge. It was only 4 years ago it was trimmed to about 4 ft, but since then it had grown to a 12-15 ft high, 6ft deep monster. Six of us worked to cut it down to almost ground level, dismember all the branches and separate the useful firewood from the leafy stuff. We then formed a chain-gang to stack all the debris back along the fence, with the wood on top where it can be…
